The Literacy Future

Context
The Literacy Future exists to close one of the world’s most persistent gaps: access to literacy itself. Nearly 739 million youth and adults worldwide still lack basic literacy skills, according to UNESCO, and while the global literacy rate has climbed over the past decade, progress has slowed in recent years even as populations grow. The Literacy Future set out to change that, using artificial intelligence and a democratized approach to education to put literacy tools within reach of anyone, regardless of income, geography or background. The team had the vision and the technology. What they needed was a brand identity strong enough to carry that mission into the world.

Approach
Bartlett Creative built The Literacy Future’s identity around a single idea: learning should not be a luxury, it should be available to all. That principle shaped every decision, starting with an icon system built entirely from simple geometric shapes, a visual language direct enough to keep the brand’s story and mission present at all times. A clean, adaptable sans serif typeface was chosen to scale globally as the company grows into new markets and segments, while a bold, optimistic color palette was developed to ignite passion and opportunity rather than the clinical feel common to edtech brands. Beyond the visual system, we worked with The Literacy Future’s team to build a bank of core brand messages and to name their proprietary artificial intelligence algorithm, giving the technology behind the mission a voice as human as the mission itself. The result is a brand identity that feels approachable and relatable to anyone, no matter their shape, size, skill level, age, gender or where they call home.
